Historian receives a prestigious scholarship for Book-Historical research

Historian Maria Simonsen is awarded the prestigious scholarship by the Inga and John Hains’ Foundation for Scientific Humanistic Research.

The Foundation annually awards two scholarships to two promising younger researchers in the Humanities who are considered to have a bright future within their fields of research. Maria has received the scholarship for her dissertation Den skandinaviske encyklopædi: Udgivelse og udformning af Nordisk familjebok og Salmonsens Konversationsleksikon from 2016 and for her commitment in the History of Knowledge.

The scholarship of SEK 225,000 was awarded to Maria at a ceremony in Malmö on 8 November 2018.

Maria is Assistant Professor in History at the Department of Culture and Global Studies, where her research examines book-historical research in UNESCO, as well as Scandinavian encyclopedias and the history of knowledge.
